According to the MCE, the Assembly is also providing essential infrastructure, including water and electricity, to support the development of the new site and ensure a smooth transition for affected traders.

The initiative follows resistance from traders and some residents after a six-week ultimatum was issued for the evacuation of the current site to make way for a proposed 24-hour market project aimed at modernizing trading activities in the area.

Mr. Awal explained that the relocation forms part of broader efforts to redevelop the Kaasuankuda enclave into a more organized and efficient commercial space that can support round-the-clock economic activity.

He assured traders that the Assembly remains committed to engaging stakeholders and ensuring that the relocation process is handled in a fair and supportive manner, with adequate facilities provided at the new site to sustain their livelihoods.

The MCE further emphasized that the project is expected to improve sanitation, decongest the current market area, and enhance economic activities within the municipality once fully implemented.
