This year's support saw 10 beneficiaries receive deep freezers after expressing interest in using them to establish or expand income-generating ventures.

Speaking at a brief presentation ceremony held at the Assembly's forecourt, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Gariba Mustapha Mohammed, congratulated the beneficiaries and reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to supporting persons with disabilities.

He noted that the government, under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, has introduced policies aimed at improving the welfare of persons with disabilities and assured beneficiaries that more interventions would be rolled out in due course.

Hon. Gariba urged the recipients to make effective use of the deep freezers to enhance their livelihoods and achieve the intended purpose of the support.

The District Officer for Social Welfare and Community Development, Mr. Maxwell Adu Gyamfi, disclosed that his office has received nearly 500 applications from persons with disabilities seeking assistance and is working diligently to ensure all eligible applicants benefit from the programme.

He added that periodic monitoring exercises would be conducted to ensure that beneficiaries use the equipment for the intended purpose and do not dispose of them.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, recipients expressed their appreciation to the District Chief Executive, the District Coordinating Director, the Social Welfare and Community Development Department, and the Assembly's management for their continued support and commitment to improving the lives of persons with disabilities.
