Speaking at the commissioning of two new educational facilities in the Suhum Municipality, Mrs. Awatey said the NDC government is delivering on its promises across all spheres of national life. The commissioned projects include a six-unit classroom block at Adarkwa and a three-unit kindergarten block at Kokooso.

According to the minister, education is the bedrock upon which every prosperous nation is built. It is also a legacy every parent must bequeath to their children. It is against this background that the government is undertaking numerous interventions to improve access to education by all especially the younger generation.

Mrs Awatey was optimistic that the facilities are the clear manifestation of the government's commitment to reset Ghana through strategic investments in education. She appealed to the members of the beneficiary communities to take ownership of the facilities to ensure their proper maintenance  to ensure their longevity and continued benefit to the future generations.

The Suhum Municipal Chief Executive, Lydia Ohenewaa Sarah, described the projects as a significant step toward improving educational infrastructure within the municipality. She noted the schools serve several communities and demonstrate the Assembly’s commitment to delivering on its promises to enhance educational access and learning outcomes.

Mrs. Osei Bonsu, the Municipal Director of Education, expressed gratitude to the government, and all other stakeholders for their support throughout the execution of the project and urged the residents to safeguard the facilities to ensure that their intended purposes are realized.

In a related development, the Minister also cut sod for the construction of the 24 Hour Market at Suhum.  Mrs. Awatey noted that the initiative aligns with the Government’s commitment to creating sustainable jobs, increasing productivity, and providing modern infrastructure that supports round-the-clock economic activities. She emphasized that the market will not only improve commercial activities but also stimulate local enterprise development and attract investment into the municipality.

The Minister charged the contractor to deliver the project according to approved specifications and within the stipulated timeframe, stressing that the success of the 24-Hour Economy agenda depends on the timely completion of strategic infrastructure projects such as the Suhum Model Market.
