Speaking at the launch of the fifth edition of the 2026 Vodza Easter Regatta at Vodza, Mr. Seade said although the initiative originated from the Vodza community, it had the potential to grow into a municipality-wide event involving all communities within the Keta enclave.
He therefore urged organisers to broaden the programme to ensure wider participation and foster a sense of ownership among residents across the municipality.
Mr. Seade noted that expanding the event would strengthen community support and enhance tourism development in the area.
He suggested that communities around the Keta Lagoon could also participate by showcasing their cultural heritage, including traditional music, dance and other cultural performances.
“Some communities have cultural resources that can also be promoted. If we involve towns and villages around the lagoon, they can contribute their culture, music and dance to make the festival richer and more attractive,” he said.
Mr. Seade added that such collaboration would encourage residents to invest in the initiative and help transform the regatta into a major tourism attraction in the municipality.
He also commended stakeholders, organisers, sponsors and investors for their commitment to the project and praised the people of Vodza for their dedication to sustaining the initiative.
“We appreciate the time and energy the people of Vodza have invested in this project. With continued support, we can develop it into a major tourism event for the people of Keta,” he said.
Mr. Seade further disclosed that the Assembly had approved plans to expand the event grounds to accommodate more participants. He expressed optimism that future editions of the Vodza Easter Regatta would grow bigger and attract more visitors.
Mrs Bridget Katsriku, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Vodza Ecotourism Initiative, commended the Municipal Chief Executive and the Keta Municipal Assembly for their commitment to the success of the regatta.
She pledged to work closely with the Board to expand the event and broaden its scope to include communities along the entire coastal belt of the Volta Region.
