Offinso North Assembly Holds First Ordinary Meeting

The Offinso North District Assembly in the Ashanti Region had mobilized GHC 908,725.12 in internally generated funds as of May 31, 2025. This represents 95.69% of the Assembly’s annual IGF target of GHC 949,725.50.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Ceaser Ofosu Acheampong, disclosed this during the First Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Offinso North District Assembly.

While commending the Assembly for its progress in revenue collection and management, the DCE said it would not relent in pursuing prudent measures to boost revenue mobilization further.

On external funding, Hon. Acheampong said the Assembly received GHC 14,386,228.25 in actual transfers from the Government of Ghana.

Agriculture and Rural Development

The DCE stated that since agriculture is the backbone of the local economy, the Assembly’s vision is to transform it from a subsistence activity into a viable business enterprise.

Education

Hon. Acheampong announced that 1,551 candidates from across the district wrote the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at five centers. He added that the Assembly’s investment in the next generation continues through the provision of modern educational facilities.

Social Protection

During this year’s LEAP validation exercise, 1,696 LEAP and non-LEAP households in 57 communities were reassessed and validated. He said 160 indigent persons were enrolled onto the National Health Insurance Scheme to improve healthcare access. Additionally, GHC 338,000 was disbursed to 125 persons with disabilities in the district.

Hon. Acheampong appealed to Assembly Members to continue working together as one people with a common goal, to respect divergent views, and to remain committed to the development of the district.
