The committee did not mince words in cautioning MMDAs to desist from the practice, or else the Committee would be forced to take serious against officials involved in the practice.

The Committee Chairperson Queenstar Pokuah Sawyer issued a stern warning to MMDA officials to stay their hands off PWD funds; describing the act as embarrassing and unacceptable.

Responding to the development of which Daffiama-Bussie-Issa was a victim of such misuse of the PWD funds, the District Chief Executive, James Wor, said the issue of mismanagement of disability funds had already been addressed since he assumed office.

“It’s not about what I will do; it’s about what I’ve done already,” he said. “Since I came, the disability committee has been very active, and anytime they bring their proposals, they are worked on. Even two weeks ago, we disbursed money to some applicants to use for their livelihood support.”

Even though the misuse happened before he assumed office, Mr. Wor assured that such development will not occur under his leadership, “the assembly had taken concrete steps to ensure transparency and prompt disbursement of the disability funds.
