Date Created : 10/6/2026 : Story Author : Susana Danso/Ghanadistricts.com
The meeting, which commenced at exactly 10:40 a.m., brought together members of the Assembly to consider previous proceedings, discuss pressing municipal concerns, receive reports and recommendations from various sub-committees and Zonal Councils, and receive updates on ongoing and proposed development projects.
In his opening remarks, the Presiding Member acknowledged members present and expressed appreciation for their continued support during his absence.
A member subsequently moved for the adoption and discussion of the previous minutes. During the deliberations, Hon. Ishawu called on the Presiding Member to include sanitation among the issues for discussion, stressing that sanitation remained a major challenge in the Municipality. The proposal was duly seconded by another member.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) also introduced the newly appointed Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Fred B. Kpodo, to members of the Assembly. Mr. Kpodo briefly introduced himself and expressed appreciation to the Presiding Member for the introduction.
The meeting also highlighted concerns over the state of infrastructure and facilities serving the Fire Service, Ambulance Service and educational institutions within the Municipality. The Works Engineer briefed members on the Assembly's plans to renovate the affected facilities.
Road safety was another major issue raised during the meeting, particularly the need for speed ramps at strategic locations within the Municipality. Members expressed concern over the number of accidents recorded from January to date and urged the MCE to take appropriate measures to address the situation.
Reports and recommendations from various sub-committees were subsequently presented and discussed. These included reports from the Executive Committee (EXECO), Public Relations and Complaints Committee (PRCC), as well as the two Zonal Councils.
The MCE also updated members on a number of development projects being undertaken by the Assembly. These include the chips compound, rehabilitation of the Mamobi Maternity Block, and works on the MTTD, Fire Service, Ambulance Service and Education facilities.
He assured members that a sod-cutting ceremony for the projects would be held soon. He further announced that the Assembly was expected to relocate to its new office structure in October.
