The visit, held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, focused on key areas of collaboration, particularly waste management and the circular economy, which have been identified as priority areas under the partnership.
The delegation visited some leading waste management companies in Eschweiler, where they were taken through various waste management facilities and processes.
The tour provided the Keta delegation with an opportunity to gain practical insights into how waste management systems operate, including the installation and use of different waste management technologies.
Following the tour, the delegation held discussions with its German partners and appealed for support towards improving waste management in Keta.
The Keta Municipal Assembly also submitted a proposal for the implementation of an effective Solid Waste Management Project in the municipality.

The German partners encouraged the Assembly to continue improving its existing waste management system and indicated that experts from the company are expected to visit Keta in June 2027.
The experts are expected to assess the municipality's current waste management system and provide technical advice and recommendations to support its improvement.
As part of the visit, the delegation also toured a Youth Shelter in Eschweiler to learn more about youth development and support services.
Youth development has been identified as another area the Keta Municipal Assembly is seeking to strengthen, with the German partners expressing interest in supporting the establishment of a similar initiative in Keta.
The partners subsequently encouraged the Assembly to consider piloting a Youth Shelter Project in Keta.
The engagements form part of broader efforts to strengthen the Sister City Partnership between Keta and Eschweiler through knowledge sharing, technical cooperation and the implementation of development initiatives in the two communities.
