The project, which is expected to connect 206 communities across all 18 Municipal and District Assemblies in the Volta Region to the national electricity grid, is scheduled for completion within six months.

Mr Agbana made the disclosure at Dekpor on Sunday during the 50th edition of his Quarterly Accountability Series in the Ketu North Constituency.

He said following the launch of the project by the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, he had engaged the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to consider additional communities that were not captured under the initial project.

“About 20 communities in Ketu North will benefit from the 206 communities earmarked for the Region. I have also pleaded with ECG to add another 30 communities to the programme,” he said.

Mr Agbana said communities including Ehi-Dziehegbleta and others were expected to be connected to the national grid under the ongoing electrification programme.

He disclosed that poles and electrical cables had already been delivered to Dzodze-Deme, with the community expected to be connected to the national grid within the week.

According to him, the connection would provide electricity to households and businesses in the community, thereby improving socio-economic activities and creating opportunities for local development.

Mr Agbana said his target was to have at least 60 additional communities in the constituency connected to electricity by 2028, describing reliable electricity supply as critical to improving livelihoods and accelerating development.

He said the electrification programme would also contribute to improved economic activities, education, healthcare and other essential services in beneficiary communities.

The MP said the Government’s decision to prioritise underserved communities demonstrated its commitment to expanding access to electricity and ensuring that rural communities benefited from national development programmes.

The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, in collaboration with the Volta Regional Coordinating Council, launched the Turnkey Electrification Project in Ho on Friday.

The project, being executed by Byes and Ways Limited, will extend electricity supply to 206 communities across all 18 Municipal and District Assemblies in the Volta Region and is expected to be completed within six months.
