Background
The Nzema East Municipality is one of the Twenty-two (22) Districts in the Western Region of Ghana. The Municipality was created in 2008 when Nzema East Municipal was split into two; Nzema East Municipality and Ellembelle Districts in 2008 by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 1840. The Municipality has Axim as its capital and is located on the southern end of the region between longitudes 2005’ and 2035’ west and latitudes 40 40' and 50 20' north. This makes it one of the best destinations for tourists in the region. The Municipality covers a total surface area of 1084.0 km2.
