Vision

The vision of Central Tongu District is to relentlessly improve our output and our business efficiency in order to be the most developed district in Ghana.

Mission Statement

The Central Tongu District Assembly exists; to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants through effective participation of communities in the mobilization of the needed resources, provision of social services and the creation of an enabling environment for private sector development.

 Functions

The Legislative Instrument which established Central Tongu District Assembly and the Local Governance Act, 2016, Act 936, specify among others the following;

Responsible for the overall development of the district and to ensure the preparation and submission through the Regional Coordinating Council for the approval of the development plan to the NDPC and budget to the Minister for Finance for the district.

Formulate and execute plans, programs and strategies for the effective mobilization of the resources necessary for the overall development of the district.

Promote and support productive activity and social development in the district and remove any obstacles to initiative development.

Initiate programs for the development of basic infrastructure and provide District works and services in the district.

Be responsible for the development, improvement and management of human settlements and the environment in the district.

 In cooperation with appropriate national and local security agencies, be responsible for the maintenance of security and public safety in the district.

 Ensure ready access to the courts and public tribunals in the district for the promotion of justice.
