A Monthly Progress Report on the upgrading of the Bouho–Sasa–Afrancho road and other key access roads in the district indicates substantial progress, with the project currently about 57 percent complete after over 13 months of work since commencement.

The project, which is being supervised by the Ghana Highways Authority in collaboration with the Ministry of Roads and Highways, forms part of government’s broader efforts to improve urban management and strengthen infrastructure within municipal assemblies.

According to the report, the contract was awarded to Messrs. KNAPO Construction Limited at a total cost of GH?100,035,925.24, funded by the Government of Ghana. The contract agreement was signed on September 11, 2024, with a scheduled execution period of 24 months.

The scope of work includes the construction of drainage systems such as pipe and box culverts, earthworks involving cut and fill operations, formation of sub-base and base layers, bitumen surfacing, and other ancillary road works.

The project officially commenced on February 17, 2025, and is expected to be completed on February 16, 2027, subject to any approved extensions. A 12-month defects liability period has also been provided after completion to ensure the quality and durability of the road.

Spanning approximately seven kilometres, the upgraded Bouho–Sasa–Afrancho road is expected to improve transportation, reduce travel time, and boost socio-economic activities within the Afigya Kwabre South District and adjoining communities.
