The initiative, led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Ebenezer Cobbinah, was undertaken in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation and the Member of Parliament for the area, Issah Salifu Taylor.
The beneficiaries received startup kits worth thousands of cedis to support them in establishing and expanding viable aquaculture businesses after undergoing practical skills training.
Items distributed included tarpaulins, scooping nets, tents, and other essential aquaculture equipment required for fish farming operations.
According to the Assembly, the intervention forms part of broader efforts to equip young people with employable skills, promote entrepreneurship, and create sustainable livelihoods through aquaculture development.
Authorities indicated that both graduates of the training programme and participants currently undergoing training benefited from the support package.
Stakeholders described the initiative as a major step towards boosting local fish production, reducing unemployment, and strengthening food security within the municipality.
The Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with development partners to expand opportunities for youth empowerment and local economic growth in Tarkwa Nsuaem.
