The support, led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Paul Osae Offei forms part of efforts to empower persons with disabilities with resources to engage in income-generating activities and improve their living conditions.

Items distributed included 25 freezers, three containers, laptops and industrial sewing machines, while 92 beneficiaries received cash support to assist them in their respective endeavors.

Addressing the beneficiaries during the distribution exercise, the MCE urged them to make good use of the items and financial assistance provided to improve their livelihoods. He encouraged them to use the support for its intended purpose to achieve lasting benefits.

The Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Lawrencia Dziwornu, also advised the beneficiaries to unite and organize themselves into groups to enable them to access more government support and opportunities.

She pledged to work closely with the MCE to address the concerns of persons with disabilities and ensure that they receive the necessary assistance to improve their welfare.

Hon. Dziwornu further stressed the need to protect funds allocated to persons with disabilities, warning against any attempt to misappropriate the money. She indicated that the President had cautioned against the diversion of funds intended for PWDs.

The initiative underscores the importance of supporting persons with disabilities through targeted assistance to strengthen their economic participation, promote self-reliance and improve their quality of life.
