Ga North Assembly honours farmers

The Ga North Municipal Assembly on Friday, November 8, 2024 awarded farmers for their contribution to national development and ensuring food security.

The 40th Farmer’s Day celebration on the theme, Building Climate-Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Food Security” in the GA North Municipality was done differently from the norm as farmers received their awards at the comfort of their homes.

This practice, the MCE said, has given him a different perspective about farming and also engaged with them to understand their challenges and successes.

Speaking with Ghanadistricts.com, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ga North, Simons Sekyim commended the farmers in the Municipality for their good works and reminded them of the importance of their role in society.

The MCE also acknowledged governments efforts in supporting farmers in the country through its various policies such as Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ), Rearing for Food and Jobs (RFJ) and Planting for Export and Rural Development, from which over (1,500) one thousand five hundred farmers in the Municipality have benefited from.

The event saw seven farmers in the Municipality going home with various prizes such as Wheelbarrows, matches, refrigerators, television sets, Cash and other agriculture inputs.
