The newly constituted LOC will work closely with the National Farmers Day Planning Committee to ensure the timely and successful implementation of all approved activities. The committee is chaired by the Regional Minister himself.
As part of the structure, six sub-committees have been established, each with its own chairperson. These sub-committees will serve as the operational arms of the LOC, responsible for coordinating all activities within the Bono Region.
In his inaugural address, Mr. Akwaboa assured the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the National Planning Committee that the Bono Regional Coordinating Council would provide the necessary leadership and coordination to support a successful celebration.
He advised committee members to meet regularly to assess progress, identify challenges, and offer timely guidance to the sub-committees. "We must organise a celebration that will be remembered for its orderliness, hospitality, inclusiveness, and strong reflection of the agricultural identity of the Bono Region," he said.
Paul Siameh, Chief Director of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, who represented sector minister Eric Opoku, urged all sub-committees to avoid duplication of efforts and institutional rivalry. He called on members to be proactive and to address challenges as they arise, rather than waiting until the final week of the event.
Mr. Siameh reaffirmed that the ministry and the national planning secretariat would provide policy direction and technical support. He urged both the LOC and sub-committee members to carry out their duties faithfully, diligently, and impartially.
"The members are to work collectively to ensure that the 42nd National Farmers Day Celebration – under the theme 'Our Farmers, Our Food, Our Future' – is successfully organised in Sunyani and reflects the reality that the Republic of Ghana honours its farmers, fishers, and value-chain actors," he added.
The committee was duly constituted and inaugurated, marking a key milestone in the countdown to the national event.
