KMA Clears Encroachments Ahead of Santasi–Asokwa Road Expansion

The exercise, led by the Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang, forms part of preparations for a major road expansion project expected to ease congestion and reduce travel time for thousands of motorists and commuters who use the stretch daily.
As part of the operation, wooden kiosks, containers, billboards, makeshift stalls and other unauthorized structures encroaching on road reservations are being removed following the issuance of prior notices to affected occupants.

According to the Mayor, the project is essential to the continued growth and development of Kumasi and will help improve vehicular movement between Santasi, Ahodwo, Asokwa and the Central Business District.

He noted that the clearance exercise would be carried out in phases and appealed to residents and traders to cooperate with the Assembly to ensure the successful execution of the project.

The KMA says the initiative forms part of efforts to create a safer, cleaner and more efficient road network to support the city’s rapid urban development.
