Ultra-Modern Accident and Emergency Ward Commissioned for Dormaa West

An ultra-modern Accident and Emergency ward was duly commissioned at the Dormaa West District Hospital at Nkrankwanta, the district's capital.

The facility that was solely sponsored by the assembly’s common fund is the second largest ward in the hospital after the pediatric ward that was built by the former MP , Ali Maiga Halidu.

The facility is not only a beautiful edifice, but has been equipped with the required modern equipment to attend to casualties.

The building alone costs 682, 000 Ghana cedis and equipment amounting to 365, 000 Ghana cedis.

The facility is equipped with the following:

  1.  14 hospital beds
  2.  1 theater bed
  3.  Theater
  4.  Anesthesia machines for operations
  5.  VIP ward
  6.  Emergency red zone
  7.  Emergency yellow zone
  8.  Emergency green zone
  9.  Pharmacy
  10.  Records room
  11.  Consulting room
  12.  Wash rooms
  13.  OPD
  14.  Officers

The facility has been officially handed over to the Dormaa West Health Directorate for use.

Dr. Osman, head of the medical team at the hospital thanked the NPP government and the Assembly with that swift response to their call.


He said it has come at the right time, because the place that is used as the Emergency ward at the hospital houses only two beds and they are always forced to attend to patients on the floor.

He said he is very sure this will go far to help Ghana achieve the health goal of Universal Health Coverage by the year 2030.

 The chief of Nkrankwanta, Nana Agyei Akyea Akombi II applauded the NPP government for always honouring their calls when the need arises. He pledged to put an eagle eye on the facility to ensure maintenance culture by health workers.


The Bono Regional Minister, Justina Awo Banahene assured the gathering that the is keen at attending to the health needs of Ghanaians of which Bawumia has promised to upgrade the health system if he wins the mandate of the electorate.
