MP Nkuah and DCE Joseph Appiah Commission New CHPS Compound at Sheda
The Member of Parliament for Sefwi Akontombra, Pious Kwame Nkuah, together with the District Chief Executive of the Sefwi Akontombra District Assembly, Joseph Appiah, has officially commissioned a newly constructed Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound at Sheda in the Western North Region.

The colourful ceremony attracted traditional leaders (Nananom), opinion leaders, health professionals, and residents who gathered in large numbers to witness what many described as a transformative milestone for the community.
The newly completed CHPS Compound is expected to significantly improve access to primary healthcare services for Sheda and its surrounding communities. With the facility now operational, residents will no longer have to travel long distances to access basic medical care, maternal health services, child immunisation, and emergency treatment.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Pious Kwame Nkuah reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure across the constituency. He emphasized that quality and accessible healthcare remains a top priority and assured residents that additional development projects are in the pipeline.
Hon. Joseph Appiah also reiterated the Assembly’s resolve to bring essential services closer to the people, stressing that healthcare delivery remains a central pillar of the district’s development agenda.
Chiefs and elders of Sheda expressed heartfelt gratitude to both the MP and the DCE for responding to their long-standing appeal for a health facility. Community members noted that the CHPS Compound will help reduce maternal and infant mortality while improving overall health outcomes in the area.
Residents described the project as timely and impactful and pledged to safeguard the facility to ensure its long-term sustainability.
The commissioning of the Sheda CHPS Compound marks yet another milestone in efforts to expand social infrastructure in Sefwi Akontombra, reinforcing leadership’s commitment to grassroots development and improved quality of life for all.
