Atiwa East DCE Calls for Strong Maintenance Culture in Schools

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atiwa East, Hon. Ernest Owusu Ntim, has called on school authorities, teachers, parents, pupils and communities to develop a strong maintenance culture to protect educational infrastructure and create safe learning environments.

He made the call during the Speech and Prize-Giving Day celebration of the Presbyterian Primary School at Anyinam in the Atiwa East District.

Hon. Owusu Ntim stressed that the construction of new school infrastructure must be complemented by proper maintenance of existing facilities to ensure that they remain useful for many years.

According to him, school buildings, furniture, teaching and learning materials and other educational facilities require collective responsibility to prevent premature deterioration and unnecessary expenditure on repairs and replacement.

He urged school authorities and communities to take ownership of educational facilities and ensure that pupils are educated on the importance of protecting school property.

The DCE explained that maintaining infrastructure was essential to providing learners with a safe, comfortable and conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.

He also encouraged parents and guardians to play an active role in their children's education and upbringing, stressing that the development of responsible and productive citizens requires cooperation among families, schools, communities and local authorities.

Hon. Owusu Ntim reaffirmed the District Assembly's commitment to supporting initiatives that improve education and the welfare of children across the district.

The District Director of Education, Miss Pearl Leonel Acquah, expressed appreciation to the DCE and the District Assembly for their continued support and called for sustained collaboration among education stakeholders to improve learning outcomes.
