The boreholes, which were part of a humanitarian project for selected communities in the district and were due for official handing over to the Zabzugu District Assembly, were inspected on Friday, by the DCE in the company of the District Coordinating Director, the NDC Chairman, Alhaji Bawa Alidu, and the District Water and Sanitation Officer, Mr Mahama Mahamin.

Mr. Tanei said some of the boreholes were already showing signs of deterioration, raising concerns about their durability and safety.

He stressed that communities in Zabzugu deserved sustainable solutions to their water challenges and not temporary interventions that would fail after a short period.

He cautioned the contractors and indicated that public resources and benevolent projects must be executed with diligence and integrity, and assured residents that the Assembly would not accept the facilities until the contractors corrected all defects.

Mr. Tanei reiterated his commitment to prioritising the welfare of the people, insisting that projects in the district must meet quality standards to have lasting impact.

Community members who witnessed the inspection expressed disappointment about the poor quality of the works.

They, however, commended the DCE for standing firm to demand accountability and ensuring that only durable facilities were handed over for use.
