The ruling nullified an earlier decision by the Tamale High Court, which had ordered a rerun of the December 7, 2024, parliamentary election.

The case was brought to the apex court by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Minority in Parliament, which challenged the High Court's jurisdiction over the matter.

In his response, Mr. Nyindam hailed the Supreme Court for upholding the will of the people. He asserted that the Majority National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament had sought to overturn the constituency's electoral mandate through the courts, but the Supreme Court had affirmed the original election results.

He extended gratitude to the New Patriotic Party and its leadership, specifically naming former Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, for their unwavering support throughout the legal battle.

Speaking for the legal team, lawyer Gary Nimako Marfo stated that the Supreme Court had “spoken emphatically” on the issue of jurisdiction, concluding that the High Court lacked the authority to order a rerun. Consequently, the High Court's decision was overturned, and Mathew Nyindam's status as MP for Kpandai was solidified.

When questioned about the possibility of the NDC Majority seeking a review of the verdict, Nimako Marfo expressed doubt that such an action would alter the outcome. He suggested that even with the expanded panel of judges for a review, the NDC was unlikely to achieve its desired result.
