Addressing the gathering, the Municipal Chief Executive for Birim Central, Solomon Brako Kusi, described the program as a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to youth empowerment through skills development and job creation. He noted that the initiative reflects the vision of President John Dramani Mahama to equip young people with practical skills that will enhance their employability and promote sustainable livelihoods.

Mr Kusi emphasized that the presentation of the learning kits was not just symbolic, but a fulfillment of a promise to transform lives and create meaningful economic opportunities for the youth.
In his address to the apprentices, he offered key pieces of advice to guide them throughout their training. He urged them to have a clear purpose and treat the opportunity as the foundation for their future, encouraging them to set goals and work diligently towards achieving them.

He also advised them to respect their masters and madams, whom he described as mentors whose experience and guidance would shape their success. Additionally, he stressed the importance of discipline, punctuality, and commitment, noting that these qualities would distinguish them and open greater doors in life.

He further called on the masters and madams to see the apprentices not merely as trainees, but as the future drivers of the local economy. He encouraged them to mentor the apprentices with patience, integrity, and dedication, while instilling strong work ethics, professionalism, and a spirit of excellence alongside technical skills.

Demonstrating his personal commitment to youth empowerment, Hon. Kusi pledged to dedicate 30 percent of his salary to sponsor 20 additional apprenticeships before the end of his tenure. He described this pledge as a modest contribution toward ensuring that more young people acquire employable skills and become self-reliant.

The ceremony concluded with a renewed call for collective support for the National Apprenticeship Program, as stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to building a skilled, empowered, and economically independent generation for the development of Birim Central and the nation at large.
