He said the Sunyani Municipal Assembly appreciated the cooperation and invaluable contributions of Muslims towards sustaining the prevailing peace in the municipality.
As Muslims prepare to end the 2026 Ramadan fast, Mr. Agyei cautioned Muslim youth to celebrate the festive season in moderation and guard against waywardness and behaviours that could land them in trouble.
Mr. Agyei gave the commendation in an interview on the sidelines of the commissioning of a mosque in Sunyani.
Alhaji Issaka-Issa, a Muslim leader and Bono Regional Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), renovated the mosque located at the Sunyani Night Market to a befitting standard. The facility has been furnished with modern air-conditioners and ceiling fans.
Mr. Agyei further cautioned Muslim youth against acts of lawlessness and unacceptable behaviours, such as careless motorbike riding during the celebrations. He urged them to channel their exuberance into productive activities.
He observed that Zongo youth, like their counterparts elsewhere, possessed enormous potential and pledged the government’s commitment to help unearth and develop these prospects to enable them contribute meaningfully to accelerated national development.
Earlier, Alhaji Issaka-Issa, popularly known as “Allah Bei Kwaana,” explained that he was inspired by Allah to rehabilitate the mosque. He added that he also intended to renovate the Dagomba Mosque at the Sunyani Zongo.
He noted that the Quran enjoins Muslims to love, care for, and share with others, and urged them to always show compassion towards the vulnerable in society.
Imam Baaba Seidu Haidara, the Bono Regional Chief Imam, expressed appreciation to the benefactor and pledged to ensure proper maintenance of the facility. He also encouraged other wealthy Muslims to emulate the gesture.
