Health
Currently, Ayawaso West Municipality has no public health facility as indicated in Table 1.6 below. Residents access health care services from the nearest public facilities such as Maamobi Polyclinic, Achimota Hospital and 37 Military Hospital. There is therefore the need to provide more public facilities to ensure access to quality and affordable health care to all. The Top Ten Morbidity in Ayawaso West as Indicated in Table 1.7 below.

Nutrition
The important role of nutrition in a healthy population is recognized by the Assembly. Rapid urbanization has modified food consumption patterns in urban areas like Ayawaso West. There is increasing demand for processed food and also existence of poor nutrition especially among children in poor communities within the Municipality.
The Assembly through the Health Directorate will continue with sensitization and delivery of nutrition services during it primary health care, ante natal, post-natal, neonatal and pediatric services and outreach in the Municipality. It will also collaborate with other nutrition stakeholders to strengthen nutrition programs and services and integrate them into the health care system.
Child Protection
Child neglect, drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, verbal and physical abuse, discrimination, bullying, adolescent sexual and reproductive health issues, unsafe places and child labor are the predominate child protection issues identified in the Municipality.
This situation is caused by complex and interwoven issues including; Poor parent-child relationships, socioeconomic stress from financial issues and unemployment. Also, cultural practices and lack of support from family friends, neighbors or the community amongst others.
The Department of Social Development in a bid to curb child protection issues within the Municipality have been sensitizing members on the importance of child protection. Also, child maintenance, general family welfare and child custody and access services amongst others are rendered to residents. For the plan period, child protection programs will be promoted by the Department and other stakeholders.
Programs will run concurrently with monitoring to ensure that child protection issues are well embraced within the Municipality.
