Education
The Municipality has both private and public educational facilities including: nursery/kindergarten, primary, Junior and Senior Secondary schools. Notable among the second cycle schools is Mfantseman Girls Senior High School of Saltpond, Biriwa National Vocational, and Training Institute (NVTI) also trains students in Vocational, Technical and Commercial skills

There are 86 public basic schools in the municipality. The number of teachers teaching in the public basic schools are 1,355(thus 1,333 trained and 22 untrained teachers). The total enrolment for the 2019/2020 academic year was 32,107 consist of 16,095 boys and 16,012 girls. The total Kg enrolment is 5,595, primary is 18,087 and that of JHS is 8,424.

1.8.1.2 Secondary Education Currently, there are six public senior high schools and three private schools in the municipality. These are Mfantseman Girls Senior High School, Kwegyir Aggrey Senior High/Tech School, Mankessim Senior High/Tech School, and Methodist Senior High School

Net enrolment at the basic education level increased at all levels. Kindergarten increased from 37.9% in 2019 to 58.8% in 2020, primary from 84.7% to 98% in 2020 and JHS from 72.9% to 75.6% in 2020. Gender parity at the JHS level decreased from 1:1 in 2019 to 1:0.85 in 2020.

A total of 60395 face masks, 2308 gallons of liquid soap, 4947 tissue papers, 304 veronica buckets and stands, 304 rubber bowls and 277 thermometer guns were supplied by the government to the schools.
A total of 172 and 170 teachers from both the public and private schools respectively were trained on the covid-19 safety protocols.
Moreover, emergency response team was set up to address issues related to covid-19 pandemic. In addition to that a WhatsApp platform was duly created with all stakeholders on board to report, discuss and share ideas relevant ideas on this deadly virus
Secondary education
Currently, there are six public senior high schools and three private schools in the municipality. Mfantseman Girls Senior High school, Kwegyir Aggrey Sen. High/Tech Sch. Mankessim Sen. High/Tech Sch. and Methodist Sen. High Sch. Took part in the National Science and Mathematics Quiz. Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School (SHS) emerged the winner of the National InterSenior High School Debate.
A total of three thousand, nine hundred and thirty-two (3,932) candidates took part in the WASSCE in the Municipality. The Public schools presented two thousand, six hundred and fifteen candidates (2,615), whilst the private schools presented one thousand, one hundred and seventeen (1,317) candidates.
School Feeding Programme
The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) arguably one of the most important social interventions by government to help boost enrolment in the public Basic Schools is yielding fruitful result. There has been an increase in number of schools under the school feeding programme yet again from 46 schools to 54 for the year 2020. The total number of pupils covered are 11,983. Out of the 11,983 pupils covered, 5152 were males and 6,831are females.
