Gov’t launches 5G Internet Service
The Government of Ghana (GoG) has launched its newest high-speed internet service 5G, today, November 1, 2024.

The 5G service has been described as the Fifth Generation of Wireless Technology, which offers higher internet speed, consistent connections and improved capacity.
The Managing Director of NextGen Infraco, the company spearheading this service, Tenu Awoonor, noted that NextGen Infraco seeks to ensure that Ghana drives its critical sectors of the economy through digitalization as the world now runs on the wheels of technology.
He added that the company is expecting to promote inclusivity by ensuring that every Ghanaian has access to the service.
He added that the company looks to invest in the future of Ghana, adding that the 5G was not only a tool for innovation but a catalyst for growth, development and empowerment of every Ghanaian.
Meanwhile, the 5G service is expected to bring numerous benefits to Ghanaians, including faster data speed, lower latency, and increased connectivity.
This is expected to enable citizens to access digital services, including healthcare, education, and financial services, more efficiently and effectively.

NextGen Infraco is a consortium formed between the government of Ghana and seven other partners.
They are; Ascend Digital, K-NET, Radisys, Nokia, and Tech Mahindra and two telcos – AT Ghana and Telecel Ghana.
