She reminded them that though the Election Day fell on Saturday, eligible farmers ought to ensure that they exercise their franchise and thereby contribute to electing ‘responsible leaders’.
“After casting your votes, you can then go and continue with your daily activities while waiting for the outcome of the elections,” she advised the farmers when speaking at the Sunyani West Municipal celebration of the 40th farmer’s day held at Fiapre.
It was on the theme “Building climate-resilient agriculture for sustainable food security,” and the ceremony sought to honour deserving farmers for their contributions towards improved food productivity.
Mad Appiah said every Ghanaian had a responsibility to play in facilitating peaceful Election 2024, saying the country had a history of successful political transitions that had stabilized the nation for now and urged everybody to accept the outcome of the elections.
She indicated that preventing election violence remained essential for sustaining and strengthening the nation’s democratic society, and cautioned the people against political violence that could destabilise the nation.
Mad Appiah called on the public to learn experiences from other countries tattered with political instability and contribute towards peace sustenance before, during and after the General Election.
She urged the youth to be guarded and not allow themselves to be used for political violence, saying “Ghana is the only country we have, and we must therefore strive to sustain her prevailing peace”.
“Our General Election has been peaceful for years now and should continue in the same manner to sustain the country’s peace,” Mad Appiah stated.
