PWDs in Krowor receive support

The Krowor Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region has presented items worth GHs 43, 000 to some persons with disabilities to improve their standards of living.

Items presented include; fufu pounding machine, sewing machine, poly-tank among others.

Others also received cash amounts to the tune of GHs 76,000 based on their request to help pay their tuition or medical bills. The total amount forms part of the 3 percent share allocated for persons with disability from the Assembly’s share District Assemblies Common fund.

Speaking at a short ceremony, Joshua Nii Bortey, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said the Assembly had been very reliable in releasing the disability fund to all beneficiaries since 2019.

According to him, the Assembly through the collaborative effort of the Disability Association and Municipal Social Welfare has provided support for hundreds of persons living with disability to help better their lives.

He said the Assembly will undertake periodic needs assessment and monitoring exercises to ensure that the items giving are put into judicious use.
