Atiwa East DCE Urges Schools to Nurture Pupils' Talents Beyond Academics

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atiwa East, Hon. Ernest Owusu Ntim, has urged schools in the district to place greater emphasis on nurturing the creative, practical and social talents of children alongside academic development.

He made the call when he attended the Speech and Prize-Giving Day celebration of the Presbyterian Primary School at Anyinam, the district capital.

The colourful ceremony brought together representatives of the Atiwa East District Assembly, Information Services Department, District Education Directorate, Anyinam Traditional Authority, teachers, parents, guardians, pupils and other stakeholders.

The event featured fashion displays, cultural performances, dancing and other artistic activities by the pupils, showcasing their creativity, confidence, discipline and diverse talents.

Hon. Owusu Ntim commended the management and teaching staff for providing pupils with opportunities to develop skills beyond the traditional classroom setting.

He noted that education should not be limited to academic instruction but should also provide children with opportunities to discover and develop their talents from an early age.

The DCE encouraged teachers to make effective use of the school curriculum to promote the intellectual, creative, social and practical development of pupils.

He explained that early exposure to creative and practical activities could help children identify their interests and acquire skills that could become useful in their future careers.

The District Director of Education, Miss Pearl Leonel Acquah, also commended the school's management and teachers for their dedication to quality education and encouraged parents to continue supporting their children's academic and personal development.

She urged pupils to remain disciplined, hardworking and committed to their studies while combining academic excellence with creativity, practical skills and good values.

The celebration ended with the presentation of awards to pupils who distinguished themselves academically and in other areas, as stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to holistic child development in the Atiwa East District.
