Coordinating Council to honour firefighters
The Bono Regional Minister has hinted that the Regional Coordinating Council is setting up an award scheme to recognize and appreciate deserving firefighters in the region.

The annual award, according to the Regional Minister, sought to motivate fire officers in the course of their duties and It would subsequently be replicated in the 12 Districts and Municipalities in the region as well.
Madam Owusu-Banahene announced this when she addressed personnel of the Bono Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service to mark this year's International Firefighters Day held in Sunyani.

Earlier the fire fighters paraded through the principal streets of Sunyani, the regional capital, displayed their skills and expertise in firefighting and later laid coins in honour of the fallen heroes.
Exactly 1200 hours the fire fighters sounded a-30 second siren-salute for the fallen heroes.
The Minister admonished personnel of the service to take advantage of the various tertiary institutions in the region to further their studies and upgrade themselves with modern methods of firefighting.
She called on corporate bodies to support the service to procure modern fire equipment and essential tools as well.
Assistant Commissioner Fire Officer (ACFO) Olivia Ayem, the Bono Regional Fire commander cautioned the general public against attacking personnel in the discharge of their duties and asked personnel of the service to build and strengthen relationships with civilians.
