The ceremony, held at the Anloga Market lorry station, brought together key stakeholders and heads of state institutions within the district.

The site was formally handed over to the project consultants and contractors to pave the way for the commencement of construction works.

Present at the ceremony were Mr Richard Sefe, Member of Parliament for the Anlo Constituency; Mr Joseph Kpattah, Presiding Member of the Assembly; Assembly Members; executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC); market leaders; and community members.

Addressing the gathering, Madam Sandra Kpedor, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Anloga, urged contractors and project supervisors to strictly adhere to all project guidelines and ensure the timely and quality execution of the project.

“We expect the contractors and supervisors to comply with all policy directives and ensure that the project is completed effectively and within the stipulated timeframe,” she stated.

The project is being executed by Zons-Top Construction Limited, while PPMC serves as the consulting firm under the supervision of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.

According to the project arrangements, construction work is expected to commence within 14 days.

Mr Golden Tettey, Project Manager for Zons-Top Construction Limited, appealed to residents and traders to support and safeguard the project.

He also advised the public to seek clarification from the appropriate authorities on issues concerning the project rather than spreading misinformation.

The proposed 24-hour economy market, to be constructed near the main Anloga Market, is expected to feature several modern facilities, including a clinic, shopping mart, gymnasium, preschool for nursing mothers, technology hub, lockable stores and shops, warehouses, a pharmacy, a police post, cold stores, meat shops, a car park, and a designated space for the Women’s Development Bank.

The Assembly leadership also used the occasion to engage market women and other stakeholders on issues relating to the management and effective utilisation of the market upon completion.

The 24-hour economy market initiative is a flagship policy of the administration of John Dramani Mahama aimed at boosting productivity, creating jobs, and promoting industrialisation through safe, all-night, multi-purpose market centres.

The project is expected to significantly enhance trade and economic activities within the Anloga area and its surrounding communities.
