Ayawaso East to Develop Modern 24-Hour Economy Market

The proposed project forms part of the Government's 24-hour economy initiative aimed at expanding commercial activities, enhancing productivity and providing a conducive environment for businesses to operate beyond the traditional trading hours.
The new market is expected to feature modern stalls and shops, police post, clinic and an under ground packing space, to provide traders with secure, organised and hygienic trading spaces. The project will also include the construction of a fire post to strengthen emergency response services and improve safety within the market.

In addition, a daycare centre will be established to support traders, particularly women, by providing childcare services to enable them to conduct their businesses with greater convenience and peace of mind.
The Assembly also plans to provide supporting infrastructure, including improved sanitation facilities, internal roads, drainage systems, reliable water supply, adequate street lighting and enhanced security installations to ensure a safe and efficient trading environment.
The initiative is also expected to stimulate economic growth within the municipality by attracting investment, increasing commercial activities and improving access to quality market infrastructure he added.

He further said the design of the project reflects concerns and recommendations raised by traditional authorities, market women, residents and other stakeholders during a series of engagement sessions organised to solicit public views on the proposed development.
He ended that when it is completed, it will contribute to the socio-economic development of the municipality while supporting the successful rollout of the Government's 24-hour economy policy.
