The project forms part of the government’s flagship 24-Hour Economy initiative, which seeks to promote round-the-clock economic activity, boost local businesses, create jobs and improve livelihoods.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony, Hon. Asibey said the project forms part of the government’s broader agenda to transform urban centres into vibrant economic hubs capable of supporting businesses and economic activities during both day and night.

He explained that the new market would help address congestion in existing trading areas while providing a more organised and secure environment for traders. The facility is also expected to provide modern infrastructure to enable businesses to operate more efficiently.

According to the MCE, the project will particularly benefit young people and women in Kwadaso by creating thousands of formal and informal employment opportunities.

The development is also expected to stimulate local economic activity by providing traders, entrepreneurs and small businesses with additional opportunities to expand their operations and increase their incomes.

Speaking at the event, Nana Nkansah Ababio, Edwenase Wioso, commended the government for bringing the project to Kwadaso. He noted that the market would help reduce pressure on existing markets, create additional employment opportunities and contribute to the growth of local trade.

The sod-cutting ceremony brought together the Municipal Coordinating Director, members of the Municipal Security Council, traditional leaders, Assembly Members, Heads of Departments, Assembly staff, market women, youth groups and other stakeholders.

The commencement of the project represents a major development opportunity for Kwadaso, with expectations that the new market will reduce trading congestion, strengthen local commerce, create jobs and improve economic opportunities for residents.
