The project was executed by the Mion District Assembly with support from the Government of Japan through its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects.
The modern health facility is designed to strengthen community-level healthcare delivery and is fully equipped with essential amenities, including nurses’ quarters with three rooms, a delivery room, a resting room, an outpatient department (OPD), and a consultation room. It also comes with medical equipment and supplies as well as a borehole fitted with a motorized pump to ensure reliable water supply.
The establishment of the CHPS compound will enable approximately 3,200 residents annually from Afayili and seven surrounding communities to access healthcare services within walking distance, significantly reducing travel time and barriers to medical care.
Health officials indicated that the facility will play a vital role in providing essential health services, particularly maternal and child healthcare. It will also support the treatment and management of chronic illnesses and infectious diseases within the community.
Local authorities and residents expressed appreciation to the Government of Japan for its support, noting that the project represents a significant step toward improving healthcare delivery and enhancing the wellbeing of communities in the Mion District.
