The donation, carried out through the Social Welfare and Community Development Department, forms part of the Assembly's efforts to promote equitable access to education and improve learning conditions for children with disabilities in the municipality.
The support package included a variety of essential items such as toiletries, mattresses, ceiling fans, a box of hand gloves, a mop and bucket, a box of A4 sheets and packets of exercise books to enhance the comfort and educational experience of the beneficiaries.
Speaking during the presentation on Friday, June 12, 2026, Assembly officials stressed that the intervention aligns with the Assembly's mandate to ensure the fair distribution of resources from the District Assemblies Common Fund and safeguard the welfare of persons with disabilities.
The Assembly noted that supporting children with special educational needs remains a priority as part of broader efforts to build an inclusive society where every child has the opportunity to learn and thrive regardless of their physical or mental condition.
The Municipal Social Welfare Officer, Madam Na-Afua Woyram Tettey, reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to implementing the Disability Act, 2006 (Act 715), and the Inclusive Education Policy.
She assured the students, teachers and caregivers that the Assembly would continue to roll out interventions aimed at removing barriers that hinder children with disabilities from accessing quality education.
According to her, empowering children with special needs through targeted support not only enhances their academic development but also promotes their social inclusion and overall well-being.
The beneficiaries and school authorities expressed gratitude to the Municipal Assembly for the timely gesture, describing it as a significant boost to the school's efforts to provide a conducive learning environment for students with special needs.
The intervention underscores the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly's dedication to inclusive development and its determination to ensure that no child is left behind in the pursuit of quality education.
