Dome-Kwabenya MP, Ga East MCE Present 1,500 School Desks to Boost Teaching and Learning

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, Hon. Elikplim Akurugu, in collaboration with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ga East Municipal Assembly (GEMA), Hon. Edmund Agboh, has handed over 1,500 school desks to the Ga East Municipal Education Directorate to improve teaching and learning in public basic schools across the municipality.

The intervention, which seeks to address the shortage of classroom furniture in schools, forms part of ongoing efforts to create a conducive learning environment for pupils and enhance educational outcomes within the municipality.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Hon. Elikplim Akurugu reaffirmed her commitment to promoting quality education, emphasizing that access to adequate classroom furniture plays a crucial role in improving teaching and learning outcomes.

She explained that the donation forms part of her broader agenda to strengthen educational infrastructure and ensure that every child has access to a comfortable and supportive learning environment.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Edmund Agboh, also reiterated the Assembly's commitment to strengthening the education sector through strategic investments in infrastructure and educational logistics.

According to him, the provision of the desks would significantly reduce the furniture deficit in public schools across the municipality and improve classroom conditions for learners and teachers alike.

He further appealed to school authorities to ensure the proper maintenance of the desks to guarantee their longevity and maximize their benefits for both present and future generations of students.

Receiving the desks on behalf of the Ga East Municipal Education Directorate, the Municipal Director of Education (MDE), Mr. Eric Sey, expressed appreciation to the Member of Parliament and the Municipal Chief Executive for what he described as a timely intervention.

He noted that the donation would substantially alleviate the furniture challenges confronting several schools in the municipality and contribute to creating a more conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.

The Ga East Municipal Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with key stakeholders to invest in educational development and improve learning outcomes across the municipality.
