Eastern Regional Minister Commissions New School Facilities, Cuts Sod for 24-Hour Economy Market in Kwahu South

The Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, has commissioned two major educational projects and cut the sod for the construction of a new 24-Hour Economy Market during a working tour of the Kwahu South Municipality.

The Minister, accompanied by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwahu South, Effah Osei Bonsu David, began the tour at Koranteng M/A Primary School, where they commissioned a newly constructed three-unit kindergarten block complete with an office, store, and a four-unit water closet toilet facility.

The delegation later proceeded to Kwahu Obo to commission a six-unit classroom block with an office, store, and ICT laboratory for St. Paul Anglican Primary School. The new educational facilities are expected to improve teaching and learning, ease pressure on existing infrastructure, and contribute to improved literacy outcomes across the municipality.

The final stop of the tour was at Mpraeso, where the Regional Minister officially cut the sod for the construction of the much-anticipated 24-Hour Economy Market. The project forms part of government's efforts to stimulate local economic growth and expand opportunities for traders and entrepreneurs.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey said the market project would create both direct and indirect employment opportunities, particularly for young people, during its construction and after completion. She noted that the modern market facility would support round-the-clock trading activities, reduce congestion in existing markets, improve sanitation, and enhance economic productivity in the municipality.

The Regional Minister appealed to traditional authorities, traders, and other stakeholders to support the successful implementation of the project to ensure its timely completion.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Effah Osei Bonsu David, expressed appreciation to the government for the investment in education and economic infrastructure in the municipality. He assured residents that the Assembly would provide effective supervision to ensure quality workmanship and the timely delivery of all projects.

Chiefs, elders, staff of the beneficiary schools, residents of Koranteng and Obo, as well as market traders at Mpraeso, welcomed the initiatives and pledged their support for efforts aimed at accelerating development and improving the quality of life in the Kwahu South Municipality.
