At a brief handing-over ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, presented the furniture to the Municipal Director of Education, Mrs Agnes Amihere, for onward distribution to beneficiary schools.

The event was attended by the MCE, the Deputy Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr Ahmed Alhassan, the Municipal Director of Education, Mrs Agnes Amihere, the Omanhene of the Bechem Traditional Area, Nana Asiwobour Osei Bonsu III, religious leaders, heads of departments, teachers, and headteachers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Frimpong expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama, the Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Charity Gardiner, and the Member of Parliament for Tano South, Hon. Charles Asiedu, for their commitment to improving education in the municipality.

He said the distribution formed part of the government's efforts to improve educational infrastructure and provide a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.

The MCE explained that in 2025, the President directed that 10 per cent of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) be allocated towards the procurement of educational materials and classroom furniture to improve learning outcomes in schools.

Under the 2025 procurement initiative, a total of 429 dual desks, capable of accommodating 858 pupils, 140 sets of hexagonal tables and chairs for 840 kindergarten pupils, and 60 teacher tables and chairs are being distributed to schools across the municipality.

Hon. Frimpong further disclosed that procurement under the 2026 budget would commence in due course to further address infrastructure and furniture needs in the municipality's schools.

He urged school authorities and teachers to ensure the proper use and maintenance of the furniture to prolong its lifespan and maximise its benefits for pupils.

Receiving the furniture on behalf of the beneficiary schools, the Municipal Director of Education, Mrs Agnes Amihere, thanked President John Dramani Mahama, the Tano South Municipal Assembly, and all stakeholders for the intervention.

She noted that the furniture would help reduce the shortage of classroom desks and teachers' furniture in schools, thereby creating a more conducive environment for teaching and learning across the municipality.
