The facility, which comprises classrooms for KG 1 and KG 2, is equipped with electricity, running water and washrooms to provide a safe and conducive learning environment for pupils.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Dr Eddie Etsey, Founder and President of the NGO, said the project underscores his commitment to empowering communities through education and giving back to his ancestral home.
He explained that Eddies Teddies Incorporated shifted its focus from healthcare to education after recognising the sector's long-term impact on community development. Over the years, the organisation has supported the school with a library, computers, laptops, sporting activities and band instruments.
Dr Etsey assured the community of the organisation's continued support, revealing plans to renovate parts of the school, improve sanitation facilities, provide a playground and extend assistance to the Junior High School.
Mr Jacob Kokloku, Headteacher of the school, described the completion of the classroom block as the fulfilment of a long-held dream. He appealed for support towards the provision of staff accommodation, a perimeter fence, a school canteen and improved sanitation facilities.
Mrs Victoria Dzeklo, South Tongu District Chief Executive, commended the NGO for complementing government efforts to improve education and pledged to furnish the new classrooms and facilitate the posting of additional teachers to the school.
Mrs Celestine Korsi-Agordo, the District Director of Education, underscored the importance of early childhood education and praised the NGO for its unwavering commitment to supporting education in the district.
Mr Francis Lumorvi Dogbey, Chairman of the Town Development Committee, noted that the school had operated for years without a dedicated Kindergarten facility, forcing authorities to use existing classrooms. He described the new block as a major boost to foundational learning and urged stakeholders to ensure its proper maintenance.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by traditional authorities, education officials, community leaders, teachers, pupils and residents, who hailed the project as a significant contribution to quality early childhood education in Lolito.
