The projects, undertaken at the Berekum Thursday Market, include the construction of a 56-unit lockable store facility, a modern meat shop, a 100-metre U-drain and the covering of an existing drainage system to improve environmental sanitation and reduce flooding within the market enclave.

Information available to GhanaDistricts.com indicates that the projects form part of the Assembly’s commitment to modernising market infrastructure and creating a safer and more conducive environment for traders and patrons.

The Assembly also completed four 14-unit open market stalls, two pavilions and extensive paving works on market access roads and trading spaces to improve accessibility and ease congestion within the market.

Municipal authorities believe the upgraded facilities will strengthen commercial activities, increase revenue generation and improve hygiene standards, particularly in the handling and sale of meat and other food products.

The Berekum Thursday Market remains one of the municipality’s major commercial centres, attracting traders and buyers from neighbouring districts and regions. The infrastructure improvements are therefore expected to enhance economic opportunities for residents and support the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises.

The Assembly has urged traders to make good use of the facilities and support efforts to maintain cleanliness and preserve the investments for future generations.
