He made the call at the opening of a 3 day training workshop on project management for members of working groups from the Tema metropolitan, Atebubu-Amantin and Kwahu west municipalities under the Partnership for Municipal Innovations-Women in Local Leadership PMI-WILL project in the eastern regional capital Koforidua.

The project which has Nandom municipal in the Upper west region and Saboba district in the northern region also as beneficiaries has the objective of increasing the participation of women in leadership and decision making in local governance and the capacity of local authorities to deliver gender responsive services for the benefit of women, girls and children as well as other marginalized groups.

The NALAG scribe bemoaned the apparent communication gap between local authorities and the people. ‘’ Having been an assembly member and a Presiding Member for a number of years, I know the assemblies are doing a lot. Our problem is that our people are unaware of the numerous things that we are doing and so the time has come for us to concentrate on the dissemination of information to our people.” He said.

Mr. Amankwaah therefore urged local authorities to use all channels of communication available to them to ensure the people become aware of developments in their various localities adding that this is very key to building mutual relationships between local authorities and their constituents.
