According to her, Assembly members are going through a lot of financial difficulties in their quest to fund transportation to programmes that are aimed at improving the plight of the people.

Highlighting on some of the challenges they face as representatives of the Electoral Areas in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, Madam Irene said due to the lack of the bikes, most communities are not visited and that prevents them from knowing what is going on around there.

She added that sometimes the usage of public transport does not benefit most of them since they are not paid and have to use their own pocket money.

She further stated that communal work like desilting of gutters and other forms of clean-up exercises which are often associated with Assembly members come with big-budgets, hence most assembly members are unable to fund such initiatives throughout their term of office.

She therefore called for concerted efforts and comprehensive regional and national frameworks that would not only respond and provide sustainable relief to people in emergencies but help to strengthen resilience and coordination, which focused on prevention.
