Lord Kwaku Akufo, assembly member for the Oboadaka electoral area, at the handing over ceremony, said the commissioning of the borehole aimed to address the problem of access to safe water in the community.
He also revealed that water from most of the boreholes drilled in the area contain iron which is negatively affecting their quality of life.
“In this community we have close to 8 borehole drills which most of them contain so much iron and until now, the only water which promises hope is the one I’m standing before, water is a human need in our day-to-day affair, but for the people of Oboadaka I will say, it’s a privilege he added”.
He further called on the government and other NGOs to support the Oboadaka community with development projects to enhance the livelihoods of the people.
The Chief of the area said the absence of portable drinking water was a major challenge confronting the community which seldom led to poor health and reduced productivity in the area.
He expressed gratitude to the foundation for the support and said it would be a reliable source of safe water for the people at Oboadaka.
