In a well-attended ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive, William Kofi Adzowu, broke ground for the construction of a modern Health Centre with Nurses’ Quarters at Domeabra, a fully equipped Kindergarten (KG) block with ancillary facilities at Nyamesomyede, and a Junior High School (JHS) classroom block with ancillary facilities at Asonkore.
The projects are expected to bridge critical gaps in healthcare access and educational infrastructure, bringing much-needed relief to residents of Domeabra, Nyamesomyede, Asonkore, and surrounding communities.
Addressing residents at the ceremony, Hon. Adzowu emphasized that the new JHS block forms part of a deliberate strategy to eliminate the shift system in some schools within the municipality.
“Our goal is to ensure that no student sacrifices instructional time due to inadequate classroom space. This JHS block will reduce overcrowding and create a more conducive environment for effective teaching and learning,” he stated.
He further noted that the KG block at Nyamesomyede will expand access to quality early childhood education, ensuring that children receive a strong academic foundation from the start. According to him, bringing school infrastructure closer to communities is essential for improving enrollment, attendance, and overall performance.
The construction of the Health Centre with Nurses’ Quarters at Domeabra is also expected to significantly enhance healthcare delivery in the area. The facility will improve access to medical services while providing accommodation for health personnel — a move designed to attract and retain qualified staff.
Hon. Adzowu appealed to traditional leaders and community members to support contractors and safeguard the projects to ensure their timely completion.
The groundbreaking ceremony marks a significant milestone in the Assembly’s development agenda, reflecting a strong commitment to responsive leadership and inclusive growth.
With these projects underway, Obuasi East is charting a clear path toward improved social services, enhanced infrastructure, and a brighter future for its residents.
