Education

In terms of education delivery and management, the district is divided into four circuits; namely Bunjai, Fuu, Jantong and Kpalbe Circuits. The district has 38 KGs, 38 primary Schools and 15 Junior High Schools. The district has a total of 233 trained teachers and 246 untrained teachers.

The figure shows the general enrolment in Schools at the basic level in the North East Gonja District of the Savannah Region. With the exception of the JHS level which shows a significant drop out in enrolment of both Boys and Girls, Day Nurseries and Primary School enrolment are almost at par. However, enrolment in all the various category is dorminated by Boys.

The figure depicts the percentage of the staffing situation at the basic level in the district. Although staffing is generally low in all the Basic Schools category in the district, primary school level has highest percentage (54%) of staffing. Adequacy of staffing especially, at the Day Nursery and Junior High School levels is a major challenged faced by the district. Most Teachers refuse posting especially to deprived areas of the district.

To ensure effective monitoring of schools, the district has been divided into four circuits; Bunjai, Fuu, Jantong and Kpalbe circuits. The table below gives a breakdown of number of schools, staffing and enrolment
