Background
The Kwahu South Municipality is one of the thirty-three (33) Districts in the Eastern Region of Ghana. It was established in 1988 under L.I 1988, Act 1742 with Mpraeso as the Municipal capital.
Location and Size
Specifically, it lies between latitudes 6°35” N and 6° 45”N and longitude 0° 55” W and 0° 20”W. It occupies a total land area of 795.76 square kilometers and has a population density of 88 persons per square kilometer.
The Kwahu South Municipal shares boundaries with Kwahu East District to the north, to the south with Kwahu West Municipal, to the east with Fanteakwa North District and to the west with Asante Akim South Municipal.
Population
The population of the Municipality according to 2021 population and housing census stands at 80,358 with 38,618 males and 41,740 females.
