Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) 

Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) working in the district are Action Aid, Ghana, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), E.P. Rural Development Projects, Assemblies of God Church, CARD International, BADECC, Integrated Development Centre and ISODEC. Others are Integrated Development Centre (the YETIIBU Women’s Association and other religious organizations.


Action Aid, Ghana has constructed a dam and a number of classroom blocks at the following places: Construction of a 3-Classroom P/S Block, Chere Construction of a 3-Classroom P/S Block, Naja Construction of a 3-Classroom P/S Block, Nambiri Construction of a Dam for Drying season farming, Nansoni In the district, there is a Desk Officer who co-ordinates the various activities of these NGOs, an important function as required by section 21 of the Local Government Act 1993 (Act 462). 5.9.3 Inter-Organizational Relationships Section 32(i) of the Local Government Act 1993 (Act 462) indicates that a District Assembly may in agreement with any one or more District Assemblies, appoint a joint committee for any project in which they are jointly interested.


In the same vein, Section 13 of the Act stipulates that subject t the approval of the Minister, a District Assembly in carrying out any commercial activity that falls within the scope of their respective functions. These two sections of the Act clearly indicate that SCDA has the opportunity to forge closer relationships with other District Assemblies and organizations as far as the development of the district is concerned.
