WATER AND SANITATION

The water and sanitation situation in the District is quite good. The District has two pipe systems in Lambussie and Hamile (Happa) which provide potable water to the people. There also 293 boreholes out of which 282 are functional in various communities in the District which put the water coverage at 76.21%. Even though the coverage seem good it does not favour the dispersed settlement pattern of the District as many communities do not have potable water and people have to walk long distances in search of water. Sanitation situation is fairly good. There are few waste management facilities in the District. The table below contains a summary of the water and sanitation situation of the district
