The District Chief Executive, Robert Agyemang Nyantakyi told Ghanadistricts.com in an interview that about 3000 dual desks have been procured and distributed to schools in recent times.
According to the DCE, when he came into office, there were school buildings that were not functional due to unavailability of furniture and have been abandoned, so the community couldn't get the benefit of its use.
He further said the provision of the items would ensure children learn in a conducive environment and a testimony of the Assembly’s resolve to improve facilities in all basic schools in the district.
He said the furniture would also impact on teaching and learning to improve performance of pupils in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
“The periodic provision of furniture to schools by the Assembly has achieved significant improvement in the performance of the BECE results in the Twifo Ati-Morkwa district over the last three years,” he said.
He emphasized the Assembly's determination to support and promote quality education through the provision of educational materials, building of classrooms and provision of furniture to aid teaching and learning.
He cited the rehabilitation of old classroom blocks and construction of new ones as a deliberate policy by his administration including a 3-unit classroom block at Opokukrom, 6- unit classroom block with a computer laboratory at Apunapun, 3-unit classroom block at Praso model with ancillary facilities which have all been connected to the national grid.
He appealed to his people that whatever they have started as a government would be completed before their tenure in office comes to an end.
